John: Hey!  Welcome to our website!  Who is “our” exactly?  Well, “our” is Wildside at Lincoln Glen Church.  Wildside is a church youth ministry.

You: "Ummmm, ok, so what's a 'youth ministry'?"

John: Well, it (Wildside…the youth ministry) is a place for teenagers, or basically jr. high and up.  In other words, it's church, but...different.  

You: “Well...what the heck does THAT mean?”

John: Well, it means that we like to do church in a way that doesn't make you wish you were sitting in fifth period English instead.

You: “But I LIKE fifth period English!”

John: No you don’t.

You: “Oh…um, ok.”

Garret: I don't think we should be discouraging them from being interested in furthering their education John.  Besides, fifth period English was actually kinda fun.  It was third period History that was boring (no offense to history nuts and buffs).  Not to mention the hell that is first period AP physics, and second period Calculus.  That, and your argument of "No you don't" just stinks...

John (continuing with his current train of though, and ignoring Garret): We play games (some of them you'd remember from 3rd grade, others I think are illegal...ok, I'm kidding),

We have events (kinda like a field trip, but without the whole "learning" part).

We tend to sing reeeeally loud.

And we've got a pretty sick pad too.

To cut to the chase, things can get a wee bit...well let's just say "bigger" around here.   So yeah, it's church, but just...different.

Ok, so while we’re spelling things out for you, what it also means (and this part is important!) is that we're a church that believes in Jesus Christ. We believe that: 

1.  He's the Son of the one true God.
2. That he lived a sinless life.
3. And that He died and was resurrected so that all of our sin (mistakes) could be forgiven.

Romans 5:8 basically says it like this, "God demonstrates His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died FOR US." We believe that this act of grace is God's gift to us. It's already done...we just have to accept it.

So let’s get you up to speed on when stuff is going on around here. Wildside normally meets twice a week. Our main thing is happening every Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Lincoln Glen Church in San Jose, CA. If you’re makin’ a trip, just Mapquest 2700 Booksin Ave. San Jose, CA 95125. We do a second helping of Wildside on Sunday mornings (duh, it’s a church) from 10:45 a.m. -12:00 p.m. That one looks a bit different though...for starters, the sun is out!  But hey, check ‘em both out!
